RIPON – Mayor Chuck Winn and Councilman Dean Uecker are scheduled to take the oath of office at today’s Ripon City Council meeting.

Both are coming off successful re-election campaigns.

Uecker edged out challenger Carolyn Jensen, who is a financial analyst, according to the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters office in Stockton, by 66 votes as a result of the Nov. 2 general municipal election.

He claimed 2,299 votes – or 26.13 percent – while Jensen gathered 2,233 votes.

Winn led in the four-candidate race, tallying 2,601 votes.

Challenger and local businessman Dan Prince managed 1,625 votes.

Council, meanwhile, is scheduled to pass a resolution at the 7 p.m. open session, certifying and declaring Winn and Uecker as the winners.

Elected officials are scheduled to give their stamp of approval, in turn, saying that the recent elections were “duly and regularly given in accordance with the applicable law pertaining thereto and that all requirements of the codes (Government Code and Election Code of the State of California) for the conducting of a General Municipal Election and the City of Ripon were complied with,” according to the resolution.

In other agenda items, Council could:

• Possibly look at a resolution that would establish the coordination policies of Ripon’s Sphere of Influence between the City of Ripon and the County of San Joaquin.

• Award the contract to Nicro, Inc. to conduct the heating and air conditioning / lighting retrofit of the old library. Nicro, Inc. was the low-bidder at $136,425 for the improvement project.

• Determine whether the softball fields and accessory buildings at the Mislin Sports Park should proceed as planned. Included would be four softball fields, concession stands, restrooms, maintenance yard. If elected officials opt on the go-ahead, they’ll also decide if the infield should be grass or synthetic.

Ripon City Hall is located at 259 N. Wilma St.
