One of two shooters who forced their way into a River Road home in the 19600 block of River Road east of Ripon at 6:44 a.m. Wednesday faced a resident shooting back from his bedroom that apparently caused one shooter to seek medical attention at an Oakdale hospital.
The 58-year-old victim told San Joaquin County deputies that the two unknown men started shooting at and forced their way into the rural Ripon residence and into a juvenile’s room opening fire on the victims.
Deputies said the man returned fire and the suspects fled out the back door and ran eastbound, shooting more rounds into the residence. During a search of the home, deputies reportedly located multiple marijuana plants as well as multiple cultivated marijuana plants.
The first suspect was described as a male of unknown race wearing all dark clothing and standing 5-foot-9 and weighing about 190 pounds. A witness said he appeared to have a dark jacket over his head.
The second suspect was reportedly smaller, about 5-foot-4, also wearing all dark clothing and weighing about 140 pounds. Sheriff’s detectives were called out to the scene and took over the investigation.
