Haute Couture Socit program Thursday

STOCKTON — The Haute Couture Société meets Thursday, Sept. 15, at the Grace Methodist Church, 1625 N. Lincoln Street, Stockton with refreshments at 6:30 p.m. followed by the program at 7 p.m.

The organization focuses on fashion design and fine needle arts. Monthly meetings feature speakers and innovative programs. Workshops are instructed by accomplished artists on a variety of techniques and skills. They also offer bus trips to special events, artist studios, shopping experiences, and museum exhibits at nominal cost.

All interested persons are invited to attend Thursday’s presentation, “You’ll Never Look at Shoes (or Purses) the Same Way Again!”

Margot Silk Forrest is the author of Sassy Feet! How to Paint, Bead, Bedeck, and Embellish Your Shoes. Five years ago she pioneered the field of DIY shoe design and has now added upcycled handbags to her list of specialties. Her delightful sense of humor and innovative ideas make her a very welcome guest at wearable art groups, sewing guilds, hobby shops and costuming conferences. Her work appears frequently in Altered Couture magazine and has been selected to appear in several major wear¬able art shows.
