Hawes, McKusker up for Ripon planning board spots

The Ripon City Council is expected to appoint Kevin Hawes and Brinton McCusker to the Planning Commission at tonight’s session.

They’re on tap to fill the vacancies at the 7 o’clock meeting at Ripon City Hall, 259 N. Wilma St.

Members of the Planning Commission review projects and developments as related to planning or zoning issues, with meetings held on the second Tuesdays of each month.

Hawes has served as a commissioner for Parks and Recreation. He’s the branch manager and loan consultant at Ability Mortgage and is involved in the Ripon Quarterback Club and Ripon Sea Lions.

McCusker works in Tracy as an attorney for the law offices of Bakerink, McCusker & Belden.

Other agenda items include the following:
•A public hearing on the zone text amendment as related to the “Seasonal Temporary Uses” ordinance.

•Council will receive and possibly discuss the committee and task force assignments. Mayor Elden “Red” Nutt is scheduled to designate the representatives and alternatives to the Central Valley Division of League of California Cities; San Joaquin Council of Government; SJ Integrated Solid Waste Management; LAFCO; City / County Criminal Justice Task Force; Air District-wide City Selection Committee; and Advisory Water Commission.

•Elected officials will also receive their appointments to the Legislative Response Committee; Code Enforcement and Vehicle Abatement; Housing and Loan Committee; Downtown Redevelopment; Green Committee; Special Needs and All-Access Playground Committee; Audit Review; Budget Review; Big Box (Review Ord. 735); Fireworks; and Landscape Clean-up (foreclosed homes).

•Council members, in addition, will receive their assignments to the various Task Forces (Old Library Building, South SJC Administration Building, Farmers Market, New Location for the Chamber of Commerce); Two-by-Two Committees (Ripon Unified, Chamber of Commerce, Ripon Christian Schools, Ripon Consolidated Fire District); and Two-by-Two-by-Two (RUSD, Fire District, City Council) and Auditor).
