Two women were injured in a head-on crash in the center divider left turn lane on Spreckels Avenue about 11:15 Thursday morning.

A witness said the northbound ‘90s Ford Windstar driven by Arcelia Torres, 33, of Manteca had stopped in the center of the roadway to make a left turn into a shopping center.  Officers confirmed that 77-year-old Manteca resident Lois Flora was driving southbound in a 1995 Buick in the center of the street and crashed into the stopped Ford van with its driver and two passengers.  Flora was alone in her vehicle.

The air bags in both vehicles had been deployed in the crash with no skid marks visible on the street.  Torres had also received minor injuries to the inside of her arm and her shoulder from the seat belt, she told officers.

The women were transported to Doctors Hospital of Manteca in two separate ambulances following the incident that tied up Spreckels Avenue traffic turning into the Target Shopping Center for a short period of time.
