RIPON — The third annual health fair is planned for Saturday, Oct. 17, in the Ripon Athletic Club parking lot as part of Ripon’s Main Street Days.

The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is being organized by the Ripon Community and Youth Commission.

Included will be several free services such as:

•Blood pressure checks by Doctor’s Hospital Manteca.

•Glucose monitoring by Dr. Daley from the Ripon medical office of Daley Dutter & Hufford.

•Bone density testing by Modesto Radiology.

•Body fat testing by Ripon Athletic Club.

•Autism screening by SNAFU.

Walgreens is offering flu shots for $24.99. Those with insurance can set up appointments for that day (call 599-1724).

For interested donors, “Be the Match” will be swabbing for possible bone marrow matchings.

Other vendors include: Delta Blood Bank, Hospice of San Joaquin, AKR Academy, Lifecycles Publishing Medical Journal, English Oaks Generations Health Care, Advanced Bodywork, Advanced Laser Clinic, Telephone Access Program, Calvary’s Bipolar/Depression Support Group, Community Hospice, and Dr. Michael Crum’s office of Ripon.

The latter will be on hand to offer dental education.

In addition, the UC Master Gardeners of San Joaquin County will be there to promote growing your own fruits and vegetables at home, and will provide education on tree care management, house plants and other garden topics.

All told, there will be 23 vendors available to inform, encourage, and serve the community towards better health.
