Hitting the Streets to fight hunger April 2

Runners are “Hitting the Streets for Hunger” on Saturday, April 2, in a bid to help Second Harvest Food Bank of San Joaquin & Stanislaus Counties feed needy families.

Hit the Streets for Hunger is a 5K Walk/Run with 1 mile and 5K courses along the Tidewater Bike Path in Manteca.  It will be held in conjunction with the Crossroads Street Faire taking place April 2-3.  It will be the second annual family-friendly event to raise awareness and funds for Second Harvest Food Bank.   

If you would like to participate registration forms are available at Second Harvest Food Bank, 704 E Industrial Park Dr, Manteca or the Manteca Visitors Center, 1422 Grove Ave., at The Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley.  Pre-registration is encouraged.  

On the day of the event, registration and check in will begin at 7 a.m. with the one mile race beginning at 8 a.m. followed by the 5K run at 8:30 a.m.  The winners will be announced and awards will be given at 10 a.m. on the stage in Library Park.  Registration and the start and finish of the race will be located at the corner of Elm and Center streets.

Entry fees are as follows: Pre-registration $15, day of registration $20, and family registration (pre-registration only) $45.  An event T-shirt is guaranteed if your registration is post-marked by March 15. All families registered are guaranteed four shirts.
