Caroline Hutto and Christina Orlando were sworn in as school board members of the Ripon Unified School District on Monday.
Board President Kit Oase had the honor of administering the oath of office.
Both were unchallenged during the recent election.
“They have a very important job ahead,” said Superintendent Siegrid ‘Ziggy’ Robeson, who attended a recent California School Board Association conference for those new and reelected trustees.
Hutto is the newcomer, taking over as representative of Area 4 previously held by Michael Fisher. He’s been dealing with health issues and was recognized by the board for his eight years of service.
Orlando is beginning her second term on the board. She represents Area 5.
Trustees also held their annual reorganization session.
Chad Husky was voted as the new board president, with Oase moving over to vice president. They were nominated, respectively, by Orlando and Ernie Tyhurst.
Hutto, who was nominated by Husky, was selected as board clerk.
Robeson was tabbed once again as secretary to the board.
RUSD, in addition, will continue to use the City of Ripon’s Council Chamber, for the exception of two conflicting dates — in this case, the board meetings will be held in the Ripon High Multi-Purpose Room —- for the monthly sessions.
