The Sunrise Kiwanis want to make sure everyone that wants to celebrate the Fourth of July by participating in the traditional parade down Main Street in Manteca will be able to do so.

The service club is again waiving all entry fees for the Independence Day parade taking place on Friday, July 4, starting at 10 a.m.

The deadline for entries is at noon on Friday, June 27. Entry forms are available at www.sunrisekiwanis.org by clicking on “downloads/forms” or by contacting Brian Mills at 209.601.6214.

This year’s theme is “Traveling the US.”

The service club is able to cover all of the parade costs thanks to proceeds they make from their annual Manteca Pumpkin Fair.

The staging starts at 8 a.m. at Jason Street and North Main Street across from the Golden West School. The parade route travels south on Main Street and then turns west onto Center Street ending at Library Park.

The Manteca Kiwanis also will stage their annual pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. at Angelano’s located in the staging area.

The City of Manteca’s 2014 Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks also takes place Friday, July 4, from 6 to 10:30 p.m. at Big League Dreams (BLD) Sports Complex, 1077 Milo Candini Drive.

Fireworks will be launched from the adjacent Wastewater Treatment Plant and the best viewing is from inside BLD (admission required). Admission is free for children ages 12 and under and $2 for ages 13 and up. This old-fashioned celebration features children’s activities (ride wristbands are available for $2 each), a teen zone, vendor booths, a softball tournament, live family entertainment and the fireworks show.

Sponsors are still being sought for this event and vendor booths are available. Call the Parks and Recreation Department at 456.8600 for more info.
