A 7-year-old has turned the heads of many adults after he launched his own campaign to send snack packs to American G.I.s overseas in battle torn countries during the last seven months.

The “I Know Jack and He Supports Our Troops Fundraiser” is set for 7 to 10 p.m. tonight with an All-American Buffet at Isadore’s Restaurant.  Jack will be meeting everyone at the door dressed in his military fatigue uniform complete with a set of wings and a ready smart salute.

Jack’s mother Kelly Pace, a CHP dispatcher, said it all started when Jack’s cousin Matt was injured in Afghanistan a year ago where he was deployed with the 143rd. Airborne Division.  The youngster first wanted to send a surprise pack to his cousin and then his effort evolved in sending more snack packs to other men in his unit.

His mom said the packs were sent to the sergeant for distribution who said his troop’s eyes lit up like it was Christmas when they were given Jack’s surprise packs of goodies.

Jack has already played a big part in sending out 300 snack packs and with tonight’s fund raiser he and his mother hope to ship another 500 to the troops that he admires – knowing they are just like his cousin.  They have been sent to military personnel in Iraq.

Tickets for the dinner that is being held in Isadore’s lounge are $20 for the buffet followed by apple cobbler and watermelon.  Entertainment will start at 8 p.m. with the Renegade Conspiracy Band that has donated its services.
