The Ripon Community Athletic Foundation will be receiving a nice promotional boost come Friday.
From 3 to 7 p.m. at Schemper’s Ace Hardware, 150 N. Wilma Ave., KAT Country 103 FM and Valley First Credit Union will collect donations for RCAF’s efforts to replace the dilapidated restrooms at the Ripon High football stadium.
It’s all part of the 10 Deeds In 10 Days – the local country music radio station serving the Modesto and Stockton area is also making stops this week in Tracy, Oakdale, and Lodi to raise awareness and collect donations for local charities and local projects.
For RCAF, the restroom renovations at Stouffer Field will be the final phase of converting the once run-down stadium into a state-of-the-arts facility.
Vince and Stephanie Hobbs were among those who initiated the grass-roots efforts back in 2007. Since then, $1.8 million has been raised to make possible a regulation soccer / football sports-grass turf and an all-weather track.
New home bleachers and upgrading of the press box are in process, according to RCAF.
The Hobbs have said on various occasions that the RHS stadium is the cultural hub of the community.
RCAF has several fundraisers to help complete the project including the purchase of personalized bricks ($100 each) or participating and / or serving as sponsor for Rina’s Run (half marathon, 10K, and 5K runs) scheduled for May 13.
