Logan Kuhn of Ripon received his Eagle Scout Rank on June 6, 2009 at the Commemorative Air Force hangar in Modesto.

He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 414 of Ripon that is sponsored by the Ripon Lions Club.  Scoutmaster Ken Newburg was master of ceremonies.  Over 80 family and friends were in attendance.  The Rank of Eagle is the highest honor a scout may receive.

Logan joined scouting as a Tiger Cub at the age of 6.  He bridged over to Boy Scouts and continued through the ranks.  Logan has earned 35 merit badges.  His Eagle Scout project was researching, planning, directing, constructing and installing several bat boxes along the Stanislaus River from Oakdale to Ripon.  Each bat box may house up to 250 bats resulting in an environmentally sound way to help control the mosquito population as well as help to reduce the spread of West Nile Virus.

Logan has completed two treks to Philmont, one as the crew leader.  He has backpacked over 300 miles, is involved in many community service activities. He is CPR certified, SCUBA certified, a student pilot, a member of the Ripon High JROTC, and an honor roll student.  His plans are to go to college after his senior year and study aerospace engineering and physics.
