LATHROP - Genessis Gonzalez was hoping that one or more of her digital photographs will be selected  for Tuesday’s District Art Show.

The fifth annual Manteca Unified event will take place Tuesday in the administration building, 2271 W. Louise Ave., Manteca, from 4 to 7 p.m.

It’s there that students from the various high schools – namely, Calla, East Union, Manteca, Sierra, Weston Ranch, Manteca Day, New Vision, and Lathrop – will have their art work on display and for sale.

Refreshments will be served.

Gonzalez, a Lathrop High junior, stood a good chance of having some of her work make it to the district art show. After all, she had about a dozen of her digitally enhanced photos on display at the school’s second-ever Evening of the Arts show held in the lobby of the Lathrop High speech arts building last month.

“Genessis is also an excellent photographer,” said her teacher and Evening of the Arts organizer Cassidee Dermond.

Lathrop High students in the advanced and intro to art classes along with those in digital photography had their work on display for viewing at the school-wide event.

Dermond was impressed with the number of entries and the attendance.

“Our show has grown from that of last year’s,” she said.

The Lathrop art show also included performances by the drama, choir and band classes.
