LATHROP – Manteca is known as “The Family City.”
Ripon is “The Almond Capital of the World.” Modesto is famous for “Water, Wealth, Contentment, and Health.”
So could Lathrop soon have a slogan of their own to join the party?
Lathrop resident Tyler Silva made the suggestion during Monday’s Lathrop City Council meeting to come up with a slogan that would not only serve as a source of civic pride, but show the rest of the world that Lathrop is a community that needs to be taken seriously.
According to Silva, he had talked about the concept with Mayor Joseph “Chaka” Santos – who was absent from Monday’s meeting – and had bounced the idea off his girlfriend and a few friends before bringing it up to the four elected officials on the dais.
“I think that as a city it’s time that we look to the future, and this is a great way to do that,” Silva said.
