102 YEARS OF TRADITION
MRPS presentation of queens & installation
MRPS officers
The 2022-23 Manteca Ripon Pentecost Society officers will be sworn in on Saturday at the organization’s annual Presentation of the Queens. Pictured, from left, are Kate Steves, Annalicia Machado-Luis Holtberg, Angela Seamas, and Jill and Kevin Paddock.

Another era of Portuguese tradition begins with this Saturday night's Manteca Ripon Pentecost Society Hall annual Presentation of the Queens. The 102nd installment ushers in the culture and heritage of the longest standing non-profit organization in Manteca.

Like the famous Portuguese explorers Vasco da Gama and Ferdinand Magellan, newly appointed President's Kevin and Jill Paddack take the wheel, and hope to steer their own version of ships seeking prosperity and honor – all culminating in the annual Festa later this year.

The dinner dance begins with no-host cocktails at 6 p.m., with traditional marinated pork dinner at 7 p.m. followed by the presentation of the 2022-2023 Queens and Sidemaids at 8:30 p.m.

Big Queen Bella Paddack – accompanied by Sidemaids Aileen Montero and Mia Lagunas – along with Little Queen Harlow Paddack with Sidemaids Alexa Marchini and Adalyn Burgess will represent the M.R.P.S. during the upcoming Festa Season. Young women dedicated to learning, sharing, and representing Portuguese customs, the young queens will march in various cities throughout California towns while also holding to their shared faith.

The Festa feast originated centuries ago with the sixth Queen of Portugal – Isabel. It is a Catholic celebration that proclaims the faith of the Portuguese and their devotion to the Holy Ghost, the member of the Holy Trinity now referred to as the Holy Spirit.

Along with Kevin and Jill Paddack, a youth movement of sorts takes the reins as new M.R.P.S. Officers for the 2022-2023 calendar year.

Angela Seamas, a third generation member, will serve as Vice President. Following in the footsteps of her grandfather the late Joe Seamas Sr., and father Joe Seamas, both former M.R.P.S Presidents.

Secretary duties will be handled by former Queen Annalicia Machado-Luis Holtberg. Newly appointed Treasurer Kate Steves follows her family in a long line of hall members and contributors.

Tickets are $25 for adults, and $20 for children 12 and under. Drive-thru pickup will be available at the kitchen beginning at 5:30. Contact (209) 815-3720 for tickets and info, or at Eventbrite.
