Ripon High senior Dallas Waters is administered the oath of office by Ripon Unified school board President Chad Huskey at Monday’s meeting. Waters is the new student school board member.

Dallas Waters isn’t the first in his family to serve as student school board member for Ripon Unified.

He’s not even the second — that honor goes to his sister Eleanor ‘Ellie’ Waters.

Dallas Waters is the third of the children of Shelley and retired Manteca Fire Chief Kirk Waters to serve as the Ripon High student representative to the school board. Ruth Waters, the eldest of the siblings, paved the way over five years ago to the student-elected post.

“I remember both of my sisters as student school board members,” said Dallas Waters, who was administered the oath of office at Monday’s RUSD meeting by board President Chad Huskey.

He was elected to the post during last semester’s student elections, hitting the floor running at the monthly meeting in the Council Chambers with his report to the board of last week’s Pow Wow registration session and freshmen / newcomers orientation.

Waters, a RHS senior, was one of over 80 Link Crew Leaders involved last Friday welcoming the newcomers to RHS. This is his second year with Link Crew.

He is also president of Science Olympiad and involved in track & field, doing the high jump, triple jump and long jump.

Dallas Waters is proud to be following in footsteps of his sisters Ruth and Ellie.

“We still have two more (siblings) coming through RHS,” he said.
