‘Almost, Maine’ opens Friday at Lathrop High
almost play

The cast of “Almost, Maine” can’t hardly wait for this weekend’s performances at Lathrop High Performing Arts Theatre.

Ditto that for English teacher Hillary Pangburg, who, like nearly half the ensemble group of 15 involved in this John Cariani romantic comedy, is also making her debut as director.

“All of them have been amazing,” she said, noting that they’ve been together rehearing since Jan. 21.

Each cast member will have his and her moment “Almost, Maine,” consisting of nine short plays of the mythical almost-town called Almost, Maine.

Added Pangburg: “It’s about love lost and found, and hearts broken and mended – (Almost, Maine) is about love, but not quite.”

The LHS Performing Arts Theatre is located 647 Spartan Wy.

Friday is opening night for “Almost, Maine,” which begins at 7 o’clock.

Saturday will feature two performances, including a 1 p.m. matinee and a 7 p.m. encore.

Cost is $8 for adults, $6 for students, $5 for students with ASB cards, and can be purchased at the door.

Pangburn has about 21 students – cast and crew – involved in the LHS Centre Stage Theatre production, which she referred to as a “series of vignettes.”
