The Bulletin

A confrontation outside of a Lathrop liquor store earlier this month ended in gunshots.

Fernando Guerrero, 43, was arrested by Lathrop Police Services for allegedly firing multiple rounds into an occupied vehicle near the area of Cambridge Drive and Mingo Way. When deputies from Lathrop Police Services and the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call, the suspect had already fled the area, but information was gathered to help authorities track him.

Even though three people were inside the vehicle, only one occupant suffered minor injuries – lacerations to the arm and leg.

Guerrero was eventually apprehended by the California Highway Patrol in Fresno County and has since been transported back to San Joaquin County to answer for charges. He is currently being held without bail in the San Joaquin County Jail on three charges of assault with a firearm on a person, the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, firing an occupied dwelling or vehicle and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He is scheduled appear in Department M1 of the Manteca branch of the San Joaquin County Superior Court on Tuesday, June 25, at 8:30 a.m.
