If you committed a moving traffic violation in Ripon on Wednesday, the odds are good you got a ticket.
Police issued139 citations for hazardous code violations, including stop sign, cell phone, excessive speed, unsafe turning movements, and unlicensed drivers.
It happened during an eight-hour operation by the traffic safety task force known as the Saturation Traffic Enforcement Program
The joint operation consisted of the Ripon Police Department, the Manteca Police Department, and the Stockton Police Department, all working together in an effort to decrease traffic collisions by citing drives for various vehicle code violations.
“These violations include, but are not limited to red light, speed, stop sign, and distracted driving violations,” Ripon police said via social media.
Officers involved in the Ripon Operation were deployed to areas identified as problematic via statistical data as well as citizen complaints.
The STEP operation moves from city to city on a monthly basis.
The Ripon Police Department, meanwhile, is committed to reducing the number of traffic collisions involving related injuries by “facilitating the safe and expedient flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic resulting in safer roadways.”
