Three juveniles were arrested in Modesto Sunday after a 5 p.m. armed robbery at the Chevron service station convenience store at 1103 South Main St. in Manteca.

The three are suspected of taking cash at gun point from two registers and cigarettes from shelves behind the counter. Manteca Police quickly initiated a pursuit down Highway 99 until the trio crashed into two separate vehicles, first near Oakdale Road and the second near Coffee while driving eastbound on Claribel Road.

One witness said only two of the juveniles had entered the convenience store in Manteca and the other remained outside in their vehicle.

Modesto officers took over the pursuit when the teens entered their city limits along with the CHP and the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office deputies.  One police unit rammed the fleeing vehicle to get it to stop.  the trio was returned to the Manteca Police Department after their arrests. They are also being charged with a Lodi armed robbery just prior to coming into Manteca,

A gun was found by officers in the suspects’ vehicle after it crashed in Modesto.

The Manteca service station closed for several hours as community service officers dusted for fingerprints and reviewed the security video tape.   No one was reported to have been injured in either of the crashes or the one involving the police unit with eastbound traffic backing up on Claribel Road with the congestion caused by the crashes and subsequent arrests. They had crashed into one vehicle near Oakdale Road and the other near Coffee Road, according to reports.
