Driver injured when vehicle strikes tree by Crestwood Park

A 22-year-old Manteca resident was injured on Wednesday when the 2001 Chevy Silverado he was driving westbound on Cottonwood Drive veered off the road shortly before 4 p.m. and crashed head on into a tree.

According to the Manteca Police Department, the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol but was confused and disoriented when units arrived on scene. Crash investigators have not determined what caused the vehicle to veer off of the roadway and the driver did not have any medical conditions on record. He was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and is expected to recover from moderate injuries sustained in the crash.

The accident occurred near Crestwood Park as the driver was moving away from Crestwood Ave. – which connects Lathrop Road to Northgate Drive.

The name of the driver was not released by authorities as he was not cited for any violations.
