The last week of the free summer meal program being offered by the Manteca Unified School District is almost here.
After nearly eight weeks of providing lunchtime meals to students in the community, the program is set to end after the lunchtime feeding on Friday, July 22 – meaning that students that have been taking advantage of the program will have to wait just over one week until school begins on Aug. 4.
The information was included in a presentation made Monday night by the city’s parks and recreation department to the city council – hoping to notify anybody that may have been taking advantage of the program that it would be ending after the following week.
According to that presentation, lunches will be served from Monday, July 18 through Friday July 22 at Mossdale Landing Park from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Representatives from the Manteca Unified School District then head over to Leland and Jane Stanford Park from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and wrap up the day at Valverde Park from 12:30 to 1 p.m.
Eligible participants are children between the ages of two and 18 years old – they do not need to be Manteca Unified students in order to receive a lunch – and all food that is given out must be eaten on the premises where it is being distributed.
Additional information about the summer lunch program and other programs available to help ensure students have access to healthy, quality meals can be found by visiting the Manteca Unified School District’s website at www.mantecausd.net.
