B&L Neeley, Inc. will soon be expanding.

The Ripon Planning Commission recently discussed the site permit plan that called for a 4,200-square-foot metal building being placed at the rear of the property along with the estimated 2,400-square-foot addition to the existing building.

This project will be completed in two phases, according to Planning Director Ken Zuidervaart.

“The request was to expand an existing building by adding (the metal building) on the back of the lot in phase I and adding on to the existing building in phase II,’ he said.

B&L Neeley provides the different food additives and water treatment additives for businesses such as Campbell, Heinz, Blue Diamond Almonds “so you don’t get sick eating ketchup and such,” said applicant Jeff Neeley of Manteca.

The additives are purchased via another source.

B&L Neeley is working on another product — calcium ascorbate used for preserving apples — and, thus, looking to expand.

Commissioners voted 5-0 to approve the B&L Neeley Inc. site plan permit at their Feb. 19 meeting.

Zuidervaart said that the applicant may need to add additional landscaping for storm water compliance along with 12 more parking stalls.

“The applicant will also need to provide a lighting plan to the police department and planning for review and approval as well as a landscaping plan to the planning and building department,” Zuidervaart added.
