Food frenzy, movie night combo June 24; swim lesson signups

Manteca’s food truck frenzy events are being combined with movie nights this summer.

The first takes place on Saturday, June 24, at Woodward Park.

Food trucks will start arriving at 5 p.m.

There will also be games, arts and crafts, costumed characters and live music followed by the movie Disney's Encanto will begin at sundown.

The evening is a joint effort of the Manteca Recreation & Community Services Department and the Manteca Chamber of Commerce.

Swim lessons

are available

Manteca Recreation & Community Services is conducting registration for the next five swim lesson sessions

You have the option of group or private swim lessons at Lincoln Pool located on Powers Avenue across from the fire station.

 Group lessons are offered on nine different skill levels with five programs designed for those 6 and older as well as four younger age specific programs for those nine months to three years, three to five years, four to six years, and six to 13 years.

There is also adaptive lessons for those with special needs.

Three remaining sessions cover two week periods, Monday through Thursday for eight lessons at 40 minutes each. The cost is $75 for Manteca residents and $85 for non-residents. Lessons take place at the Lincoln Park swimming pool.

The upcoming sessions are June 19-29, July 3-13, and July 17-27. The July 3-13 session is one day shorter due to Independence Day and has the rate adjusted accordingly.

There are two one week sessions also Monday through Thursday July 31-Aug. 3 and Aug. 7-10  in the evenings. They have prorated fees of $38 for city residents and $48 for non-city residents.

Private one-on-one swim lessons for 9 months through adults are available at the Lincoln Park pool for $125 for residents and $135 for non-residents. It consists of four Monday through Thursday 40-minute lessons. Lessons are offered through July 27. There is one remaining sessions available on Saturday for private lessons. The session dates are is July 9, 16, 23, and 30.  

 Registration for upcoming sessions closes at 6 p.m. the prior Thursday of the session you want your child in.

Lincoln Pool, 245 S. Powers Ave., is offering open swim through July 30 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. There are no open swim sessions for other days of the week.

Friday hours are from  noon to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8:50 p.m. Hours on  Saturdays and Sundays hours are noon to 5 p.m.

Lap swimming sessions are set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday from June 10 through July 30.

The cost is $2 for youth 4 to 7 and those 62 and older. Adults 18 to 61 are $3.

A free open swim day with games, prizes and more is set for Saturday, July 29, to celebrate Parks & Recreation month.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Admission is $2 for youth 4 to 17, $3 for adults 18 to 61, $2 for seniors 62 and up while children under 4 are free.

Manteca adding Pup Pool

Party among aquatic offerings

A Pup Pool Party is planned for Saturday, Aug, 19.

The pool is being reserved for dogs to go for a swim and cool off.

Lifeguards will be on duty. Children must be accompanied  by adults. Owners may enter free of charge.

Registration by Aug. 17 is required.

Two Junior Lifeguard Camps teaching basic safety and water techniques are planned for  June 26 thru June 29 as well as July 17 thru July 20.

Campers will build stamina through swimming and games. Students should be comfortable swimming Independently in deep water. Although it is taught by certified lifeguards, it is not a certification class.

Registration includes a T-shirt.

The cost is $125 for residents and $135 for non-residents.
