Friday the 13th was a bad day for traffic accidents in Manteca with injuries sustained on two of them.
The most serious was a three-car crash at Union Road and West Louise Avenue at 1:30 in the afternoon.
The second injury crash was at 4:30 when a 33-year-old transient rode her bike into the front of a northbound KIA sedan on South Main Street at Moffat Boulevard while crossing from the west side of the street to the east in a crosswalk — glancing off the car’s hood and left front panel and landing on the sidewalk. She complained to officers and medics of pain in her back and chest.
Firefighters and officers detoured northbound Main Street commute traffic onto Moffat Boulevard. She was transported by ambulance to San Joaquin County Hospital in French Camp. Escalon Ambulance responded to Manteca due to the apparent unavailability of Manteca and Ripon units out on other calls.
The biker was transported to San Joaquin County Hospital in French Camp complaining of back and chest pain. The ambulance crew also transported her bicycle so she would have transportation back to Manteca when released from the hospital.
The first accident of the day was at 7:30 in the morning in the 1100 block of Livingston Avenue and the second was in the 100 block of Sycamore Avenue. At 11:13 there was a collision at South Airport Way and the Highway 120 Bypass freeway ramp that was taken over by the CHP.
At 3:08 there was a crash into two parked cars at Eleni Lane and West Alameda as a hit and run that ended up in the 400 block of Greenbriar where the vehicle struck another parked car on the street, police said.
