Two free events designed for kids — Arts in the Park and a Bike Rodeo — take place this Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Giles Park next to the Boys & Girls Club, 545 W. Alamedas St., in Manteca.

The Mayor’s Committee on the Arts is sponsoring the Arts in the Park event. It includes hands on arts and crafts as well as entertainment. Art displays presented by a dozen participating groups also will be available. There will be a raffle.

The Manteca Police Department and Manteca Parks & Recreation Department are presenting the Bike Rodeo.

Participants will learn about bike safety, avoiding common road hazards, and bike maintenance.

The bike rodeo includes a series of stations related to everyday bicycling situations.

Kids should bring their bicycle and helmet. If you don’t own a bicycle or helmet they will be available to borrow.

There will also be demonstrations by the Manteca Police canine unit. A free meal of hot dog, chips and drink will be available.
