Sister Ann Venita Britto may be gone.

But her free luncheon for seniors regardless of their religious affiliations will live on thanks to the Ministry of Caring along with Deacon Jeff Vierra of St. Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Church.

That tradition continues with the Valentine’s Day luncheon scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb 7.

The group spent Monday putting together Valentine’s Day-themed party favors for the special event at the St. Anthony parish gymnasium located at the corner of North Fremont Avenue and Sutter Street, Manteca.

Vierra mentioned that these luncheons are made possible by donations from the community, and is expecting to see many of the regulars in attendance.

Included will be those from Brookdale, United Cerebral Palsy, El Rancho, and Valley CAPS, to name a few.

Students from nearby St. Anthony’s School will serve as servers.

Live entertainment is also planned for the event.

Sr. Ann’s finale luncheon was held in December.

She founded that sit-down event some 16 years ago – Sr. Ann was recently assigned to England.
