The Manteca Unified School District’s Nutrition Education Department will be hosting its second annual Family Wellness & Safety Expo from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Sierra High gym, 1700 Thomas St.
This free event is open to all MUSD students and families. They’ll have a chance to taste school lunch samples along with learn about smart snacks and wellness policy.
The Family Wellness & Safety Expo will again feature food demos along with games, prizes, a farmers’ market for kids, and a free bike give-away.
According to Nutrition Education Supervisor Stephanie Huff, this event promises to be bigger and better with about 25 information booths in the cafeteria and gymnasium.
Included will be Allergens Health Services, Rethink Your Drink / Hydration Station, Dairy Council, Ray of Hope, Manteca Parks & Recreation, Child Abuse Prevention Council / Early Childhood Development, Give Every Child A Chance, First 5 of San Joaquin Creative Care, Stranger Danger-Manteca Police Department, Producers, and Kaiser-School Sports, to name a few.
The Family Wellness and Safety Expo will provide parents with a chance to fill out meal applications or set-up a pre-payment plan.
Some sites will receive the free meal plan. Those at the sites will still be required to fill out the proper forms made available at the Expo.
