Fun run April 1 benefits WR scholarship fund in honor of cancer victim
Jason Alve

Weston Ranch High School is seeking event sponsors for the inaugural Jason Alve Memorial Fun Run on April 1.

Registration fees ($15 early registration, $20 after March 25) will go toward the Jason Alve Memorial Scholarship Fund. Those that register early are guaranteed a shirt. Medals will be awarded to the top-3 finishers in each age group.

Alve graduated from Weston Ranch in 2019.

He was a high-achieving student who challenged himself with Advanced Placement courses. His goal was to study Computer Engineering at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

Unfortunately, Alve lost his battle with cancer. To honor his memory and ease the financial demands that burden students, Weston Ranch is launching the 5-kilometer fun run and scholarship fund.

The school needs help, though.

Weston Ranch is seeking at least 500 bottles of water, prizes and healthy snacks.

Those that sponsor will be recognized in a newsletter, on the school’s social media platforms, and finally on a banner displayed the day of the event. Weston Ranch will also provide a donation receipt letter and tax-exempt ID number.

Contribution to the scholarship fund are payable to Weston Ranch -- write “Jason Alve Memorial Scholarship Fund” in the memo line.
