One less cigarette store and one more laundromat.
That trade off appears to be in Manteca’s future.
Plans have been submitted to the Manteca Community Development Services for a laundry and retail stores at 1155 East Yosemite Avenue.
It is currently where a former drive-in built in the 1950s that was converted into a cigarette store a longtime ago now stands just west of the Clear Drop Car Wash and neighboring medical offices.
The project is in front of an existing older apartment complex.
The infill project is just one of a number of commercial endeavors either going through the entitlement process or plan check with the City of Manteca.
The large parcel on the southwest corner of Airport Way and Louise Avenue across from the Manteca Unified School District Office complex has a commercial project submitted dubbed The Village at Villa Ticino.
The property closed escrow in August for $6.6 million.
The site is next to the 760-home Villa Ticino West neighborhood now under construction and just north of the 99-home Yosemite Greens neighborhood being built.
To the south of Yosemite Greens are two approved adjoining projects that will add another 152 living units.
Plans are being processed for Manteca’s fifth McDonald’s going in along Atherton Drive just west of Main Street.
It is the first portion of an approved shopping center to move toward construction.
Additional medical offices are being reviewed by municipal staff for a vacant parcel on Eucalyptus Street across from the dog park on the northwest corner of the Manteca Civic Center.
In other planning/development related news, earlier this month Judith Blumhorst was selected by fellow members to serve as the Planning Commission chair.
Eric Hayes will serve as vice chair.
