Harvest High is officially the Home of the Huskies.
Eva Matthews, who is the principal of the Ripon Unified alternative education school site, recently put it out to the students to vote for the mascot of their choice.
“The student voice is very important at Harvest High,” she said at last week’s school board meeting.
Based on the 25 responses, the Huskies received 40 percent of the votes.
The Honey Badgers and Hamsters tied for second, getting 20 percent of the votes apiece.
The other mascot names earning honorable mentions included Hawks, Hornets, Headshots and Pandas.
“Our students have spoken,” Matthews added.
Harvest High students are now looking forward to creating and designing the school logo.
Matthews indicated that the students were proud of their involvement of being part of this selection process.
