Hit-and-run case leads to felon with loaded gun
CRIME

When Lathrop Police executed a traffic stop on Monday on a suspected hit and run driver, they had no idea they would be encountering a convicted felon carrying a loaded gun.

Anthony Quintero, 29, was stopped by a Lathrop motorcycle officer after he was spotted driving a vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle involved in a hit and run accident, and when officers searched the vehicle they found two 9mm handguns – one of which was loaded – and additional ammunition.

Quinter was arrested and booked in the San Joaquin County jail on suspicion of hit and run and a number of gun charges including being a felon in possession of a handgun, carrying a loaded firearm with a previous felony conviction, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle and being a felon in possession of both a gun and ammunition.

He is currently being held on $875,000 bail and is scheduled to appear Department M1 of the Manteca branch of the San Joaquin County Superior Court on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charges.
