The first-ever Kar Kapades last Sunday attracted participants from near and far.

According to event organizer Pete Paulsen, some made the trip to the River Island sports facility, from Arizona, Nevada, Colorado and even Mississippi to “join in on the action,” he said.

On display were hundreds of vehicles.

“We had everything from Harleys to hot rods,” said Paulsen, served as the longtime host for his Hot Rod Parties at his French Camp ranch.

Much like his recent events, proceeds from Kar Kapades benefitted Bikes For Kids, a non-profit organization that provides refurbished to underprivileged children throughout the year.

The biggest distribution of those donated bikes will take place on Dec. 12 at the Paulsen Ranch at 1504 W. Bowman Rd.

Thus far, Pete Paulsen has over 100 donated bikes – Andrew Rodriguez from West Coast Custom recently delivered 44 bikes to the cause – with another 100 in his shop in need of repairs and TLC. Volunteers are being sought to help out with refurbishing the different types of bicycles. Call 209.983.0271 or log on to www.petepaulsen.com for more information.

Paulsen, meanwhile, deemed Kar Kapades “a huge success” thanks to those who attended.

Best of Show went to Victor Raffy Sperry’s 1955 Ford F-100 while Stan and Pauline McKlintock of Bullhead, Az took home the Long-Distance trophy.

Special guests were Jon Provost from the classic TV show ‘Lassie’ along with his wife, Laurie Jacobson, an author and celebrated Hollywood researcher, Heather Storm from TV’s Garage Squad, and custom car designer Jon D’Agostino.

“It was a beautiful day at River Island – vehicles filled River Island Parkway, waiting to get their spot at this inaugural event,” Paulsen added.
