Got a bunch of junk that has been piling up on the side of the house all winter?

The City of Lathrop has got you covered.

Now through March 25, Republic Services – the contractor who provides refuse services for the City of Lathrop – is providing free junk cleanup for Lathrop residents that place the items next to their regular garbage on specific, pre-arranged days.

Items like furniture and appliances, TVs, monitors and other e-waste, up to four tires without rims and bagged or boxed small items not exceeding 50 pounds in weight can be placed outside the night before pickup as long as the entire lot does not exceed 2.5 cubic yards of items – meaning piles should be no more than 3-feet wide by 7.5-feet long by 3-feet high, including appliances.

Loose, unbagged items, bags or boxes over 50 pounds, engines and engine parts, hazardous waste, liquids and dirt, rocks, concrete or bricks will not be picked up as a part of this service.

Neighborhoods across Lathrop will be serviced independently in conjunction with their normal pickup days, and maps detailing which neighborhoods will be picked up next can be found by visiting the City of Lathrop’s website – www.ci.lathrop.ca.us – and clicking on the Fall Clean Up link in the city news section. The spring clean-up flier listed on the city’s main page has a link to a document that shows each of the neighborhoods in the city and when they will be serviced by crews that are picking up items that have been placed for collection.

Republic Services provides the service free of charge during the fall and the spring seasons to give local residents a chance to remove bulky or oversized items that can’t be included with their regular trash without having to bring the items to a place like the Lovelace Transfer Station – operated by the County of San Joaquin – which charges users a fee to dispose of their items.
