The City of Lathrop is adding more electric vehicle charging stations.

No discussion was necessary at a recent meeting as the Lathrop City Council approved the bid of Panelized Structures, Inc. on the project that calls for furnishing and installing 10 EV charging stations at the Lathrop Community Center / Lathrop Senior Center.

The scope of the work will include the construction of a steel carport with solar panels, battery storage system, lighting, and micro-surfacing the parking lot with new signing and striping, according to the staff report.

“EV charging units support the reduction of transportation emissions, sustainability, and promote clean energy,” the report said.

Caltrans also requires all local agencies to execute a project-specific PSA in order to be eligible for reimbursement of project costs with federal funds.

Lathrop is authorized to receive $850,000 in federal funding – required is a local match of 11.47 percent or $97,495, in this case. To fund the required local match and offset the progress reimbursing of federal funding, staff also requested that elected leaders to allocate money from Measure C and Capital Improvement Project funds.

Panelized Structures, which was one of 10 companies vying for the project, came in with a bid of $654,900. Couple that with a 10 percent construction contingency ($62,490), which brought the total construction budget to $687,390.
