Parents looking for a night off might have the perfect cover for a babysitter while their kids think they’re getting a treat.
On Friday, Feb. 11, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., the Lathrop Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a “Kids’ Night Out With Your New Best Friend” event where they will be treated to pizza, games, and dessert while watching “Clifford: The Big Red Dog.”
And they’ll get a chance to take their own dog – a plush puppy that they’re create themselves – home with them.
Much like the popular mall shop where kids get to create their ow stuffed animal, those who come to the Lathrop Generations Center will get to stuff and name their new best friend to coincide with the name of the event itself.
The cost for participating is $25 per child – it is open to children 5-12 – and preregistration is required to attend the event.
And it’s not the only kids-themed event that’s coming up for young people in the City of Lathrop.
Starting on Feb. 1 and running on Tuesday and Thursday through Feb. 24, children from 3 to 5 will get the opportunity to partake in the “Kids at Play” program at the Lathrop Community Center.
From 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays the younger kids will get the chance to participate in art, music, outdoor play, and story time with other kids their age. The sessions will be supervised by Parks and Recreation Department staff.
All participants must be potty trained in order to participate in Kids at Play.
