The City of Lathrop Police Department reported a pair of incidents during the weekend.
This included the 911 call officers received after a vehicle was seen entering the parking lot at Boat House at River Islands restaurant, 980 Lakeside Dr.
The driver struck a park bench and fled the scene, with officers responding to the area and quickly locating and stopping the suspect in the vehicle.
Through their investigation, police determined that the driver had a blood alcohol concentration of .21 percent – nearly three times the legal limit.
The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into San Joaquin County Jail.
His vehicle was impounded.
“Driving under the influence puts lives at risk,” said Lathrop police via social media. “Always plan ahead – designate a sober driver, use a ride share service, or make arrangements to get home safely.”
The previous evening, Officer Coleman Eliott spotted a vehicle speeding through Lathrop.
When he attempted to stop the car, the driver fled, leading officers on a pursuit through city streets.
“Thanks to quick action and strong teamwork, the pursuit ended safely,” police said.
The driver was taken into custody and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
