Lathrop Rec offers day camp designed with pandemic rules

Sometimes it takes being proactive to stave off the summer blues.

The Lathrop Parks and Recreation Department is attempting to do just that this year with Camp Lathrop – a socially-distanced in person summer day camp for residents and non-residents that is open to students from kindergarten through 8th grade.

Each week is designed to include crafts, science experiments, activities, sports skills, and virtual field trips. The sessions are being offered throughout the summer from Monday to Friday form 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and costs $155 a week for residents and $175 a week for non-residents – with multi-week discounts available for residents who want to participate in more than just one week of the camp.

Because of the complexities of the COVID-19 virus and social distancing guidelines, the camp will include separated rooms, individualized participant bins, and appropriate spacing for participants. Comprehensive sanitation will also be included in the routine plans to protect the health of the participants and the staff that oversees the operation.
