Lathrop Rotary fireworks booth supports community
LATHROP ROTARY FIREWORKS
From left, Dustin Kotel, Joyce Dresser and Sheila Zaballos of the Lathrop Sunrise Rotary Club work the fundraising TNT fireworks booth during a previous year.

For nearly a decade, Lathrop Sunrise Rotary has operated the TNT fireworks booth in parking lot of the Save Mart Shopping Center, 15240 Harlan Rd.

Proceeds from this annual fundraiser will go to the many endeavors of the local service organization. More on that.

“We had a big first day,” said Rotarian Sheila Zaballos of the sales of safe and sane fireworks on Thursday.

Included was one of the big-ticket, “The Big Bang” – described by TNT as a second to none block party assortment of 500gram multi-aerials and reloadable shells.

Dustin Kotel, who is knowledgeable on the TNT products, pointed out that such items as Fire Krackle and the Mighty Sword have been popular among buyers.

The Lathrop Sunrise Rotary booth will be open from 9 a.m. to about 10 p.m. from now through Monday – the Fourth of July – or until supplies last.

Rotarians will also be offering tickets at the booth for the drawing of the TNT 49’er assortment package or the Opening Show fountain. The winners will be announced on Monday.

Meanwhile, Lathrop Sunrise Rotary is partnering with the City of Lathrop’s Parks and Recreation Department for today’s July 1 fireworks celebration at the Lathrop Generations Center, 450 Spartan Way, starting at 6 p.m.

This free event pays tribute to Lathrop’s annual birthday, returning after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Live music, vendor booths, carnival games, food trucks and, of course, the fireworks show beginning at about 9:15 p.m. will highlight the July 1 Celebration.
