Leo Zuber is selected as Ripon mayor

Ripon City Council’s version of musical chairs elevated Leo Zuber to mayor.

At Tuesday’s organizational meeting, he moved up from vice mayor or Seat No. 2 to the top spot, taking over as mayor from Michael Restuccia, who dropped down to Seat No. 5.

He and colleague Dean Uecker re-upped for another four years. Both ran unchallenged during the recently elections were officially certified.

City Clerk Lisa Roos administered the oath of office to the two incumbents.

The rotating seats for the mayoral selection is a city ordinance that’s been around for several years.

Jake Parks is now vice mayor, moving from Seat No 3 to Seat No. 2. Councilman Daniel de Graaf and Uecker moved up to Seat No. 3 and Seat No. 4, respectively.

As the designated mayor and vice mayor, Zuber and Parks had the option of accepting or declining the move.
