Male severely injured in parking lot attack at apartment complex
CRIME

Manteca Police — in a bid to protect the integrity of the investigation — have been keeping a lid on releasing most details of an attack in a parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1200 block of East Atherton Drive that left the victim with life threatening injuries.

The attack was reported to police Sunday at 6:55 p.m. as a drive-by shooting. Manteca Police have indicated while no one was shot, the male victim sustained severe injuries.

No arrests have been made.

There has been a flurry of comments made on social media pages about the incidents and questions why the department hasn’t issued further details.

“The police department is aware of additional information being discussed and released on other social media pages,”  the department noted in a statement released Monday. “The delay in an official posting by the police department was to done in order to enable investigators to focus on the case. We understand the concerns of our community and their desire to obtain more information on what occurred. Again our first priority is to protect the integrity of the investigation, but we will strive to release additional information as it can be released.”

Anyone who may have witnessed or who may have any information pertaining to this incident is encouraged to contact the Manteca Police Department at 209-456-8101. The case number for this incident is 19-21672 and the lead investigator is Detective Dave Bright.
