The first performance of the Manteca Area Community Band takes place Monday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lathrop High theater, 647 Spartan Way, Lathrop.
Admission is free.
The MAC Band is made up of 51 people — 24 community members, 9 college students, and 18 high school students — who live and work in the Manteca/ Lathrop/ French Camp area.
The concert theme is “At the Show: Music from the Stage and Screen.” Selections include “America” from West Side Story, “Suite” from Hamilton, music from “The Incredibles”, “Meditation” from “Thais”. “Captain America March”, and “Seal Lullaby.”
The band will perform music from movies, musicals, and opera. There will also be three solo features —one by a current high school student, one by an MUSD alum who is currently a music major in college, and one by an adult community member.
