Manteca crime down slightly in first half of 2025

Crime in Manteca is trending down, if ever so slightly.

Manteca Police in the first six months of this year handled 137 violent crimes, up from 130 in the same January to June period of 2024.

Property crimes were down going from 668 in the first six months of 2024 to 573 for the first half of the current year.

Factor in crimes per capita, and the number used to compare relative safety between jurisdictions based on crimes per 1,000 residents and it  reflects an even bigger drop in crime in Manteca.

That’s because the city added nearly 2,000 residents to reach a population of 95,000 over the course of a year.

Narcotics offenses are up in the January-June period going from 99 in 2024 to 132 this year.

Alcohol offenses were down, going from 169 to 165.

Fraud cases were up slightly going from 107 to 109.

In the 2024 versus 2025 first half  of the year comparisons, crime reports were down to 2,840 dropping from 2,869.

Robbery and aggravated assaults were down while rape and homicide was unchanged.

The property crimes of burglary, larceny and auto theft were down, while arson was up by one incident.

There have been 101 vehicles stolen in Manteca the first six months of this year.

The pace is a far cry from 2005 when a  record 798 vehicles were stolen in Manteca.
