Lincoln School primary students know not to clown around when there is a family emergency.

The Manteca Fire Department staged a kids’ safety demonstration dubbed “FLASH” geared to children in the first, second and third grades on Wednesday at Lincoln School. It was a loud, noisy presentation designed to help them remember in times of family emergencies that they should call 9-1-1 for help.

The FLASH team from the Manteca Fire Department is making the presentation to all the Manteca elementary schools for the second year. They visited Lincoln Elementary Wednesday morning to present the program to about 100 students.

Four firefighters make up the special safety team of FLASH.  They include Steri McLeod as the emcee for the event held in school auditoriums; two disc jockeys Nick Haas and Traig Smith as Cube and Fuego respectively; and the ever loving clown in the show, Bryant “Trout” Kendall.  Fire marshal Lantz Rey rounds out the team that leads the students in their responses and includes dance moves.

The FLASH presentation was offered a second time Wednesday afternoon at McParland School.  Today, the firefighters will take their safety production to Shasta School in the morning and at McFall School in the afternoon.
