Manteca Library offers summer fun through efforts of Friends

 Summer is around the corner and so are fun activities at the Manteca Library.
The Friends of the Manteca Library have lined up a series of free programs through June and July running the gamut from a comedy/music show to crafts.

The upcoming programs include:

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 6, AT 3 P.M., the Manteca Library presents Fratello Marionettes: Peter and The Wolf. Join us for a unique take on a classic, musical story about a boy and the woodland creatures he encounters. Adapted and performed by the Fratello Marionettes, this show comes to life through traditional performances using hand-crafted marionettes and the blending of classical music with the art of puppetry and storytelling.
MONDAY, JUNE 11, AT 2 P.M., the Manteca Library presents Make Your Own Bookmarks. Join the Teen Library Council in creating your own unique, stylish bookmark! Materials will be provided.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 13, AT 3 P.M., the Manteca Library presents Uncle Jer’s Traveling Bee Show. How and why do bees pollinate plants? What kinds of societies do bees live in? Why are there different types of honey? Can I use honey as an antibacterial agent? Why do bees swarm? Learn the answers to these questions and much more from bee expert Uncle Jer.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20, AT 3 P.m., the Manteca Library presents Traveling Lantern Theatre Company: Life of Mozart. Enjoy a frolicsome, gleeful, and historically accurate play about one of the greatest musical geniuses who ever lived. From start to finish, the show is accompanied by Mozart’s breathtaking music. This play is designed to introduce young children to the vibrancy of history, the joy of music, and the true story of this very special composer’s life.
SATURDAY, JUNE 23, AT 2 P.M., the Manteca Library presents Manteca Garden Club: T-Shirt Shopping Bags. Need new reusable bags for groceries and other shopping? The Manteca Garden Club will show you how to turn an old t-shirt into a shopping bag. We encourage you to bring your own, but shirts will also be available for you to use.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27, AT 3 P.M., the Manteca Library presents Micke Grove Zoo. The zoo is coming to you! Join us for a Micke Grove Zoo presentation as they teach us about wild animals and how we can help protect them. This program will focus on the sounds animals make and how they are used in communication.            
SATURDAY, JUNE 30, AT 2 P.M., the Manteca Library presents Manteca Quilters: Painted Rocks. The Manteca Quilters are bringing their own version of “Libraries Rock!” Be creative with the Manteca Quilters and enjoy a relaxing rock painting program. Materials will be provided.
MONDAY, JULY 9, AT 2 P.M., the Manteca Library presents Jewelry Making for teens. Join us for a class on how to make your own jewelry. This easy to follow craft will provide you with unique accessories you will be able to call your own! Materials will be provided.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 11, AT 3 P.M., the Manteca Library presents Eric Rubin’s Music Show. Comedian and musician Eric Rubin will have you laughing and dancing to his music. Be sure to bring your imagination because he might ask you to make up a dance.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 18, AT 3 P.M., the Manteca Library presents Cool Crafts & More. Take time to cool off and join us in a maker-style program with self-directed crafts. Materials will be provided. For all ages.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 25, AT 3 P.M., the Manteca Library presents Summer Reading Closing Party: Magic Ron & Iris Rose. You get to assist a magician and see animals appear and disappear right before your very eyes! Afterwards, join us for balloon art, face painting, and more activities in Library Park.
