Manteca opens cooling center

The Manteca Senior Center will again serve as the Cooling Center this week.

forecast for today calls for temperatures in the low triple digits.

For those looking for relief from the heat, the Manteca Senior Center at 295 Cherry Lane will serve as the Manteca Cooling Center for the next few days.

Activation of the Cooling Center is subject to change as weather conditions change, according to City of Manteca-Local Government via social media.

“The Cooling Center has been opened to help Manteca residents stay cool during potentially danger hot weather. If you know anyone who needs shelter from the heat, please relay this information,” said Monday’s post.

Hours for the Cooling Center is from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today (Tuesday) and Wednesday).

Bottled water will also be available.

The City of Manteca will continue to monitor the weather and open the shelter on an as-needed basis.
