Manteca Police arrest 2 after seizing unregistered gun, drugs

The Manteca Police Department Street Crimes Unit conducted a search on a home on W. Woodward Avenue on Thursday and seized various forms of cannabis, controlled prescription medication, a scale, a Glock handgun with a 50-round drum magazine, and assorted amount of currency. Arrested were Angelo Chavez, 19, and Diego Chavez, 21, both of Manteca.

Two Manteca men were taken into custody on Thursday after the Manteca Police Street Crimes unit served a search warrant and discovered an unregistered handgun, prescriptions drugs, and cannabis for sale. 

Angelo Chavez, 19, and Diego Chavez, 21, were arrested and charged with a number of crimes including possession of an unregistered firearm, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance, possession of prescription drugs without a valid prescription, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of cannabis for sale, and possession of more than an ounce of cannabis. 

The search, which was conducted on a resident on the 1500 block of W. Woodward Avenue, resulted the seizure of various forms of cannabis, scales, controlled prescription medication, and unregistered Glock handgun equipped with a 50-round feeding drum, and an undisclosed amount of currency. 

Both young men were released from San Joaquin County Jail on Friday.
