Manteca Police arrest serial burglary suspect
crime

An early-morning burglary at Kamp’s Propane led to the Manteca Police arresting a suspect they believe has been a serial burglar responsible for three similar crimes over the course of the last two months.

According to the agency, officers arrived at a burglary call on Thursday morning just before 1 a.m. and discovered that Kamp’s Propane on Moffat Boulevard had been broken into. Video surveillance from the business was provided to authorities, and officers working the graveyard shift began looking for the suspect’s vehicle shorty thereafter.

It took less than two hours for officers to conduct a traffic stop and make contact with 41-year-old Brian Williams – a transient from the Manteca area. When searching the vehicle officers found evidence from the break-in at Kamp’s Propane, and took Williams into custody without incident.

After searching through a database of similar crimes that have been committed in the area, officers were able to link him to three other similar crimes that resulted in multiple charges for burglary and attempted burglary.

Williams is currently in custody at the San Joaquin County Jail on $60,000 bail and is due to appear in the Manteca branch of the San Joaquin County Superior Court on Friday at 8 a.m. to answer to the charges.
