Manteca Police recovered a stolen motorcycle after a short two-mile pursuit early Friday morning.
The department had received information from a neighboring law enforcement agency advising a stolen motorcycle was possibly located in Manteca. Officers began checking several areas in search of the stolen motorcycle when an officer spotted it being ridden on Cottage Avenue at 2:39 a.m.,
The officer attempted to stop the motorcycle, but the rider failed to yield and fled eventually leaving the roadway and driving onto a dirt road and into an orchard located just north of Louise Avenue off of Cottage. The officer continued the pursuit, but due to the dirt road conditions and darkness, the officer quickly lost sight of the motorcycle.
Additional officers responded to the area and began a search. A short time later the motorcycle was located abandoned near and open field. The owner of the motorcycle was notified of the recovery.
