Another extreme heat warning is scheduled for today.
The Ripon Consolidated Fire District will look to provide a splash of fun at Lan Park, 1800 block of Mary Jo Way, by once again rolling out the big hoses to cool off those looking to beat the heat.
At 1 p.m. – through 1:30 – local firefighters are scheduled to get the water party started. They’ll also serve up Kona Ice of Ripon, featuring snow cones offered in a variety of flavors.
“Gather your crew and get ready to make a splash. We can’t wait to see you there for an exciting break from the summer heat,” said Ripon Consolidated Fire District via Facebook.
This summer, firefighters also provided a cool-down, spraying water from Engine 2-1 at a recent neighborhood block part and a few weeks earlier at Mistlin Sports Park with “Splash into Summer” in place of the interactive water fountain – at the time, the popular cooling spot was undergoing repairs.
Manteca
The Manteca Senior Center, 295 Cherry Ln., will continue to be used as the Cooling Center.
Open to all residents – from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., through Saturday – the Senior Center can provide a safe and cool place to escape the summer heat.
“We invite everyone in the community to take advantage of this resource. Whether you need a break from the sun or a place to relax in a cool environment, our center is here for you,” said the City of Manteca via social media, adding: “It’s important to stay hydrated and find relief from the high temperatures.”
Lathrop
The Community Room of the Lathrop Police Department, 940 River Islands Parkway, will serve as the Cooling Center through today.
Hours of operation will be from noon to 7 p.m. – the center will close at 6 p.m. if no attendees are present, police noted.
In addition, the Cooling Center will accommodate household pets as well as companion animals.
